PROJECT BOOM
Sponsored by the National Science Foundation

It's different now.

Fire is natural and healthy for many ecosystems. Modern megafires are not.

A century of too much suppression - coupled with climate change, and more houses than ever in the wildland-urban interface - has brought us unprecedented, catastrophic fire severity and intensity.

Long term, we need a major rethink of land management .

Short term, we need radical ideas.

Like using shockwaves to extinguish wildfires.

SERVICES

For dreamers who are doers.

We generate and self-incubate our own ideas, but maybe we can help you with your crazy ideas too. We speak automotive, aerospace, energy, and the environment.

PROJECT SEAFLIGHT

Efficiency matters.

We can't afford to wait for batteries to improve or hydrogen to become viable in order to meaningfully decarbonize aviation. It'll be too late.

This is Rebel Research's first project to become a stand-alone company - Seaflight Technologies, venture-backed by Y Combinator.

HARD TECH REBELS

Rebel Research is an independent climate tech R&D lab in Los Angeles. We develop high-risk technologies for big challenges in transportation, energy and the environment.

We make imaginative physical things, or make them possible. We're not fans of conventional wisdom, but we are big fans of the scientific method - you will not find impossible machines here.
